What halal-friendly travel means with us

A clear, honest explanation of what we provide — and what we don't claim.

Our Definition

Our approach to halal-friendly travel

The term 'halal-friendly travel' is used loosely across the travel industry. Some companies use it to mean almost nothing — a few halal restaurants nearby, maybe a prayer mat on request. Others make sweeping claims they can't back up.

At Bilad Travels, we're specific about what halal-friendly means for each tour and each destination. We don't make blanket claims. We describe exactly what's provided, what's been verified, and what's the traveller's responsibility.

Here's what we cover across our tours:

What We Cover

The arrangements on every tour

Food & Dining

Every restaurant on our itineraries is verified halal by our team or trusted local partners. We provide restaurant names and halal credentials. Where halal certification exists (e.g. JAKIM in Malaysia), we reference it. Where it does not (e.g. Uzbekistan where halal is the cultural default), we explain the local context. Vegetarian and specific dietary requirements are communicated in advance.

Prayer Facilities

Prayer times are factored into every daily schedule. Mosque locations are provided for every destination in your itinerary. Hotels are selected with prayer space in mind — whether a dedicated prayer room, in-room prayer mats, or nearby mosques. We provide a prayer facility guide as part of your pre-departure information.

Accommodation

Hotels are selected for Muslim-friendly amenities. This varies by destination but typically includes: prayer mats and qibla direction in rooms, halal breakfast and room service, alcohol-free minibar options or removal on request, and family-appropriate environments. We describe the specific arrangements for each hotel on each tour.

Activities & Experiences

We plan activities that are suitable and comfortable for Muslim travellers. Where cultural sites have specific etiquette (e.g. temple visits in Bali), we explain this in advance and provide alternatives where appropriate. We avoid scheduling during Jumu'ah prayer times.

Destination Planning

We choose destinations where halal-friendly travel is achievable with confidence. In Muslim-majority countries (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Indonesia outside Bali), halal food and prayer facilities are widely available. In mixed destinations (Bali), we do more groundwork to ensure halal arrangements are in place.

What We Don't Claim

We don't claim that every single aspect of a destination is halal-compliant — that's not realistic or honest. We don't certify hotels or restaurants ourselves — we verify through local partners and our own research. We don't make religious rulings — we provide practical arrangements and information so you can make informed decisions.
